DIFFERENCE FOR SUCCESS

In 2016, Difference for Success became It's All About the Kids® Foundation's newest program.  By combining the Difference for a Day and Difference for a Week Programs, IAATK can now focus on Life Skills for junior high, high school and college students. We believe that Life Skills are the foundation for success!

The new program includes bi-monthly after-school Life Skills Classes at San Diego High for at risk youth. Life Skills Classes focus on banking, saving, budgeting, manners, social media etiquette, college preparatory  and entrepreneurship. Youth particpate in field trips include attending sporting  and community events, watching movie premiers and visiting museums. Special Grants and scholarships are available for youth for Prom, summer programs and special projects. IAATK has helped fund educational trips to other countries, extended educational classes, books, beds, suitcases, bus passes and other important necessities that the students might need.

From 2004-2016, over 200 homeless high school students participated in our Difference for a Day program. The program included a Life Skils Scavenger Hunt and follow up classes.  The program has a 100% completion rate. Youth enjoyed movie openings like Star Wars, Kung Fu Panda, San Diego Charger games and meeting players, yacht cruises, 5k Runs and many more events that built self-esteem and that life is limitless.

From 2004-2016, the Difference for the Week program supported college students that had previously been homeless.  Students have included  a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army, Bill Gates Millinium Scholar, Fulbright Scholar, and a Graduate Research Fellowship Award from the National Science Foundation. They have graduated from Merced, UCSD, SDSU, Hofstra, UC Santa Cruz, UC Irvine Masters Program and USC Masters Program.  After graduation, two have traveled to China and India to teach English.
