The countdown has begun! Tommy V’s Italian Chophouse  presented the 1st Annual Opening Day Countdown Party, T Minus 7 with $7 drink specials and $7 bar menu in honor of the last 7 days before Opening Day of the Del Mar Races !

What a great night!  The place was packed with fun people who enjoyed live music by Grammy Nominated Artist, Sacha Boutros!

Prom Day began with the girls getting  their hair and makeup done and the boys even getting their nails done!   The teens wore gorgeous dresses and tuxedos and arrived in style in the Stingaree Hummer Limo,  then played casino games while  Magacian Sabastian entertained.  They all then posed for photos with Elvis and Marilyn Monroe ! Volunteers from It’s All About the Kids and  Downtown Rotaract volunteers served a delicious  dinner  donated by members of  The Newbreak Church .  DJ  Daniel Estrada got the teens dancing and the Prom Court was crowned.  The teens had night to remember!

Sponsors included the It’s All about the Kids Foundation, Stingaree, Casino Concepts, Hall of Champions, TechSmart, Vitamin Water, Groom The Salon, French Twist, Moments of Your Life Photography, Instant Karma Photo and Ciro’s Pizza.  Prom was organized by Micah Bray of Toussaint Academy and Angela Brannon of It’s All About the Kids. Partying for a Purpose held the  6^th Annual “Champagne & Purses Party”  on June 10, 2010 at the SE Hotel. San Diego ladies raised funds for the Prom and donated dresses, shoes, purses and jewelry for the girls to wear .  Partying for a Purpose is the fundraising branch of It’s All About the Kids.  www.toussaintacademy.org and www.itsallaboutthekids.org

Prom Night San Diego was held on June 29, 2010 at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego. This exciting night was for the folks from the  Bar and Restaurant Industry and their guests and benefited It’s All about the Kids.  The Hard Rock ballroom was transformed into a high school gym complete with a basketball hook and bleachers. Guests enjoyed a photo area and delicious cupcakes, cheese puffs, Chex Mix and…adult beverages!  Even bottle service!

Thank you to the Hard Rock Hotel and their donation of $1200.

BENEFIT ART SHOW DREW ATTENTION TO LOCAL YOUTH HOMELESSNESS, ABUSE AND COMMERCIAL SEXUAL EXPLOITATION
Featuring art therapy that gives a voice to San Diego’s at-risk, abused and homeless youth.

WHAT AN AMAZING EVENT on June 25, 2010!  All the art was auctioned and SOLD to raise much needed funds and awareness for the project.

San Diego Youth Services is one of It’s All About the Kids’ Alliance Charities. We were proud to support this event and to continue to support this project.

San Diego Youth Services (SDYS) H&nds Project was created through our Expressive Arts Therapy Program, as a way for the at-risk, abused and homeless youth we serve to tell their stories while respecting their confidentiality. The project was created to help youth therapeutically through the arts. The youth served by SDYS are survivors of abuse, neglect, prostitution or human trafficking. They wrote messages on their hands which were then photographed as a format that protected their anonymity. The art therapy project has given these youth a voice to express what they wanted to say about their traumatic lives of abuse and neglect.

Through the H&nds Project, the wider community is also able to interact in the arts for healing and understanding the very complex and hidden world of youth homelessness, abuse and commercial sexual exploitation. The power of the project lies in a shared art process that is simple enough for everyone to participate in, yet produces very powerful art works that act as intermediaries to promote conversation, education, advocacy, and dismantling stereotypes on both sides. This photo narrative is in the process of being put into a book, where the youth are empowered to be in control of the images, in addition to increasing awareness and visibility for this very crucial subject. Making a Difference in the fight against Huntington’s Disease

It’s All About the Kids brought teens to the Shoot to Cure event at the Charger Training Camp!  The event was full of food, beverages and Chargers!   The most important part was a presentation by Huntington’s Disease that brought tears to our eyes. We learned about this terrible disease and how important the event is to raise much needed funds  to help end this disease.

Teams competed by shooting hoops in order to win the title !  We didn’t win, but we had an AMAZING time!  The teens got tons of autographs ! And photos with the players and Charger Girls!  Our favorite food included Homie’s Cinnamon Buns, Vitamin Water and Tilted Kilt!  Thank you to Stephanie, Natalie and Bill of Huntington’s Disease and Liquid Investments and Ron Fowler for inviting us!  This is one of our favorite events of the year!  For more info please go to http://www.hdsa.org .  Photos by John Vaughn of Instant Karma Photography.

Thanks to Janine McCullough of Golden Eagle Farm, teens of It’s All About the Kids got to experience a rare occasion!  Twin horses are very rare and most do not make it due to health problems.  Janine invited us to the Del Mar to see them!  The teens got to pet Sunny and Angel, and a few kids even got nibbled on!  What a unique experience!   After, the teens visited O’Brother’s Burgers in Horton Plaza for delicious burgers, fries and out of this world onion rings!  All organic and fantastic!
