RealPage RealWorld 2015 Conference Attendees Donate Books!

This summer, President of the Board, Angela Brannon-Baptiste received an email from Mike Nielson of RealPage, a leading provider of software to the rental housing industry. The company was hosting its annual RealWorld 2015 User Conference in San Diego and were looking for a charity to donate books to. And not just any books, Dr. Seuss books! She quickly replied, “Please choose us!”.

We’d like to send a huge thank you to Mike and everyone at RealPage, as well asall the RealWorld 2015 Conference attendees who donated hundreds of Dr. Seuss books for our kids!

The books were given to Christie’s Place, who is having their annual Back to School Party August 15, 2015. Each child will receive a Dr. Seuss book. We know that all the children, from the little ones up to the teens, will absolutely love their books. We are so thankful!

Testimonial

“I have been a member of the University Club since 2006, I go there at least twice a week, I’ve met lots of people there, and there are tons of events you can go to, almost too many if that is possible! Because of all the amazing staff and happy experiences I have had there I am writing this testimonial for both the University club and the amazing Angela Brannon-Baptiste who does so much for charities, to help kids, and to bring San Diegans together for great out of the box events for a great cause.

I totally support both organizations and highly recommend anyone to join the U Club and support Angela and It’s All About the Kids®.”

Help us send Stephanie to China!

Help us send Stephanie to China!

Today, It’s All About the Kids received this letter from Stephanie Muñoz. Stephanie has been a stellar student and participated in It’s All about the Kids programs for the last 7 years. She has been in our college program, Difference for a Week, for her entire college career, and she has excelled. We are so proud of her! Now, she has an opportunity to teach English in China…and she needs help to buy her airplane ticket!

Please help us send her to China for a year to teach English.

Donate $25, $100..whatever you can ! Donate at www.itsallaboutthekids.org/donate
******************************************************************************************
Here is her letter….

My name is Stephanie Muñoz, a recent graduate from the University of California, Merced. I am 22 years old from San Diego, California. In May of 2015, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Spanish. I am a first generation student not only to graduate High School, but I’ve made my family really proud by earning a four year degree from the University of California system. Graduating college was always one of my biggest dreams, and it feels so good to say I’ve finally crossed that off my list.

I am a former graduate from Toussaint Academy San Diego (TASD), a program for homeless youth at risk. I resided at TASD for four years previous to coming to college. The program was my biggest support system throughout my high school years. I was always encouraged to strive to be someone successful in life by providing me with the necessary life skills that I needed to survive out in the real world. Not having the support from my immediate family allowed me to let in a new family that provided me with all the love, support and encouragement I needed to continue to believe that I can be someone great in life.

In high school I was always involved and an active member of my community. I continued stay involved throughout my four years of college I’ve had the privilege to hold several leadership positions that have allowed me to work with diverse groups of students and make long lasting relationships, not to mention great connections. One of my favorite positions I genuinely enjoyed was being a Success Mentor. This position allowed me to serve and guide first year student’s transition from high school to college serving the students as a main resource to help adapt to a new lifestyle and community. I saw this opportunity to give back and help incoming first year students have a great experience, as I was guided by a mentor my first year of college as well.

I really made sure to have a great experience at UC Merced by taking all the opportunities that were offered to me and always going for the things that I wanted. I’m always looking for opportunities for me to grow and become a successful person. Recently, I was offered an extraordinary position to go to China for a year through Ameson Education & Cultural Exchange Foundation to teach English to elementary level students. I’m immensely excited for this new opportunity. It’s such a great transition and new chapter of my life that it feels almost surreal. I’m reaching out to It’s All About The Kids Foundation [IAATKF] to help me get to China by financially assisting me in buying my airplane ticket, it’s something that I’m struggling with at the moment and that would take big weight off my shoulders. I am a motivated person that has faced many obstacles in life, but my past doesn’t define the person who I am and becoming. I ask you for your generosity and financial assistance. I will appreciate any help I can get from the bottom of my heart. I will make sure I make the best out of this experience and I’m excited to share my experience and time in China with IAATKF.

Thank you so much in advance.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Muñoz

Tamir Rice, was killed by a police officer on Nov 22, 2014 while playing in a Cleveland playground. Representatives for the Rice family contacted It’s All About the Kids Foundation and asked if the Foundation would like to receive toys from a toy drive in Tamir’s honor. It’s All About the Kids is so grateful to the Rice Family and their supporters.

This toy drive is very important to the Foundation. It’s All About the Kids Foundation’s Co-Founder, Angela Brannon-Baptiste’s brother Scott Brannon, was murdered in 2006. His case is unsolved.
