“The national recognition that our charity is receiving is a testament to the good work that the board and Angela have done over the years. We should all be proud that our organization never sought recognition but only focused on doing good work for those in need in San Diego.” said Shawn Heyl, It’s All About the Kids President and Co-Founder. “Every once in a while we find ourselves involved in a business or organization that we really can be proud to be a part of and that really makes a difference. ”

Global Teams In Engineering Service (TIES) program at UCSD Make a Difference
]It’s All about the Kids Foundation was chosen for the 3rd straight semester by Brandon Reynante professor of the Global Teams In Engineering Service (TIES) program at UCSD. Groups of students solve challenges proposed by President Angela Brannon. The challenges have included solutions for a bid card program for silent auction, an online donations, and dirty water at partner orphanages in Baja Mexico.
In Fall of 2014, Professor Mandy Bratton’s class was asked to create a mobile app for one of the charity’s activities with teens. Two teams presented fantastic starts to a long term project that will help children learn life skills. The fabulous students worked on the projects and then presented to Angela as their semester final. Each semester she was blown away by the amazing solutions.
One of the most impactful challenge was the problem of dirty water at the orphanages. This has been an ongoing problem. The water is from a tank or a well, both not clean. The students came up with a water filtration system that was very affordable and included a see-saw as the pump, therefore, not needing electricity. AMAZING!
Beginning January 20, 2014, the Spring semester students will be challenged with implementing the bid card program and creating a garden with used water for the partner orphanages. President Angela Brannon Skyped into the class to discuss the challenges for the spring! So cool! Final projects will be presented in June. We can’t wait!
It’s All about the Kids is honored to be a part of this wonderful program. It rocks!
Thank you to both professors and the awesome students for making a difference!

GIA Brightens the Season for the It’s All about the Kids Foundation
Thank you so much to GIA (Gemological Institute of America) employees and students in Carlsbad for holding an amazing toy drive for It’s All about the Kids! The following article appeared online [click here ] and in the Coast News and the Union Tribune Newspaper!
GIA (Gemological Institute of America) employees and students in Carlsbad are helping brighten the holiday season for San Diego children and teens through its annual Holiday Gift Drive. This year, the Institute collected nearly 250 toys and supplies and more than $1,600 for It’s All About the Kids©, a nonprofit foundation that supports local children’s charities.
Items donated to It’s All About the Kids Foundation include bicycles, playpens, learning toys and puzzles, stuffed animals, dolls, flash drives, books, art supplies and much more. Donations will go directly to two of the foundation’s partner charities, the Serra Mesa Food Pantry and the Crime Victims Fund.
“We’re so honored to be the recipient of toys and donations from GIA this holiday season. For most of our kids, this is the only present they will receive this year, and we are so grateful for such amazing generosity,” said Angela Brannon-Baptiste, co-founder and president of the Board for It’s All About the Kids Foundation. “GIA is making a huge difference in the lives of our children this holiday season and throughout the year.”
“Knowing exactly where our donations will go has really inspired our students and staff to enthusiastically embrace the spirit of the season and make contributions this year,” added Susan Jacques, GIA’s president and CEO. “We hope to make the holidays shine a bit brighter for those at the Serra Mesa Food Pantry and the Crime Victims Fund.”
Since 1996, GIA’s Holiday Gift Drive has supported a local charity each year. It’s All About the Kids Foundation is a nonprofit organization that creates new and innovative programs to benefit children’s charities and enhance the lives of less fortunate children and their families. It’s All About the Kids is committed to the advancement of children through the joining of music, the arts and the generosity of corporations and individuals. In all, the foundation collects toys for over 1,500 children in San Diego and Baja Mexico.
