Alexander Salazar Fine Art presented local works
from Greg Holden Regan, Eric Wixon, Lindsey Nobel, Julia San Roman and Ellen Dieter.
Guests were treated to an extraordinary collection of original works
for viewing and purchase while enjoying fine wine, light hors d’oeuvres
and live music from local duo sensation “Pitch and Teigh.”
Alex also lectured on how to buy art !
For every purchase a donation was made to “It’s All About The Kids”

8th Anniversary Party for
It’s All About the Kids Foundation
AMAZ!NG, The Board of Directors of It’s All About the Kids and Partying for a Purpose hosted the 8th Anniversary Party at the Vault San Diego on April 21, 2012!
This event was invitation only for 125 of the Foundation’s top sponsors. Guests enjoyed complimentary cocktails featuring St. Petersburg Vodka and The Beer Company, with food from San Diego’s best restaurants Trattoria Fantastico and Red Pearl Kitchen. Sara from Sprinkle Me Desserts created fantastic cupcakes with the It’s All About the Kids logo on top of each! Entertainment from DJ Lil Ryan, DJ Scott Roberts, DJ IDeaL, Jason Whitmore. and Jay Seven with a special performance by Charmed Life Entertainment. The Partying for a Purpose go go dancers were shaking it as well!

The Afternoon of Total Beauty was held on March 11, 2012 at Groom The Salon. For the 8th year in a row, teenage girls from Toussaint Academy and Storefront enjoyed an afternoon filled with receiving a ‘new look’, hair cut, style, skin care consultation, makeup application, presentations, food, drinks and even a goody bag. Thank you to the hairdressers of Groom The Salon – Gwendolyn, Jenni, Brandon, Laura, Megan, Gregg, Ruthie, Makeup artists : Rhonda, Marie, Chrissy, Tara, Presenters Dr. Richelle, Rhonda and Jessica. Pillow Pets Donation!

Huge Thank you to Pillow Pets for their Project Luv Pup ! It’s All About the Kids received 240 Luv Pups! They had to be picked up in Oceanside, so volunteer Sebestian Figueroa drove the donated van from Alexander Salazar Fine Art and made it happen! 84 were delivered to Christie’s Place and 30 went to Community Coaching Center. 20 girls from Storefront and Toussaint Academy will also receive them. The remaining Luv Pups will travel south to Baja for Casa Estrella, Casa de Paz and Rancho Mirage.

President of the Board Shawn Heyl, his friends, family and supporters celebrated his birthday on Thursday, January 19, 2012at Alexander Salazar Fine Art Gallery La Jolla. The newest Alexander Salazar Fine Art Gallery is gorgeous and we had a great time grooving to the sounds of El Watusi and enjoying

In lieu of gifts, Shawn requested that all guests make a donation and over $1200 was raised for the programs of It’s All About the Kids.

Helping Children in Baja

In December 2011, Executive Director Angela Brannon of It’s All About the Kids received an email from Santa Caus. They were asking for toys for orphans in Baja. How could she say no? She thought to herself, ” It’s All about the Kids is about just that..the kids and We must help them..they have nothing and a wall should not not be a barrier.” But, she was short toys already for the charities that she had committed to. And, the Marines at Toys for Tots had just said NO to her and denied her request for toys. But, she decided that SAYING NO was not an option. She told Santa Caus YES. She then spread the word that she needed help ! And it came! Toys and money from new sponsors ! And enough toys for all the charities ! On December 23, 2011, Jesse, a volunteer for Santa Caus picked up a truckload of toys that we had placed in garbage bags [a great disguise!] and took off for the border.
That evening, Angela received an email from Santa Caus. The following is an excerpt.
“Santa was sweating this evening. We had a fabulous day giving wonderful gifts to the amazing kids at Rancho Milagro, and then prepared for Santa’s visit to Casa De Paz (leaving at 10 am from Magana’s tomorrow morning). Just to be sure, we spoke to the person we thought had clothes and toys for the kids all packed and ready to go – only to discover that they had clothes only, no toys. A communication error. OOPS! OH NO, NO TOYS FOR THE KIDS? I was sweating. I counted out enough little pencil kits, but that wasn’t enough. And then I remembered another request for 20 toys for the poorest families in town – and then I was really worried.
Then a miracle happened. 8:30 at night the buzzer rings – it’s Jesse with a truck FULL OF TOYS. They were donated by It’s all About the Kids and he managed to get the whole pickup truck full of toys through the Border with no customs stop!!!”
Arthur then informed Angela that the children were sleeping on the cold floor. It’s All About the Kids then collected blankets and pillows and purchased sleeping bags. Thank you to all the donors ! We provided enough for the 30 kids at Rancho Milagro. Casa de Paz is also in need of 48 sleeping bags and blankets as well. It’s All About the Kids is collecting new or gently used blankets, sleeping bags and pillows. We are also accepting donations of new clothes, shoes, toiletries, school supplies and art supplies.
